Girls’ Soccer Celebrates Their Seniors and a Win

On Monday, Oct. 13, 2014, the Bel Air Girls’ Soccer team hosted the C. Milton Mustangs for a foggy Senior Night match.

Before the game began, the Bel Air Seniors were recognized and escorted out by their parents as their accomplishments and future goals were announced.

The seniors on this year’s Varsity Soccer Team are Captain Shannon Williams, Captain Kayla Klock, Morgan Hollenback, Renie Tsomos, and Carly Lambert.

The game started with high hopes from the Bobcat lineup, playing very an aggressive defense and working together as a unit on offense.

With 13:33 left in the first half, Senior Shannon Williams delivered a great assist to Freshman Lexi Kraemer to put the Bobcats on the scoreboard.

Yet again Freshman Lexi Kraemer scored to make it her second goal of the game with an assist from Junior Gabby Encarnacion with only 2 minutes left in the first half. The first half concluded with the Bobcats on top with a 2-0 lead over the C. Milton Mustangs.

As the second half began, the fog was still strong in Bobcat Stadium, but that did not get in the way of Bel Air’s solid defense, keeping the Mustangs off the scoreboard for the remainder of the game. Gabby Encarnacion delivered yet another assist, setting up Sophomore Gabi Hall in the goalie box to tap it in making it a score of 3-0.

As the last whistle blew, the Lady Cats’ celebrated with due to their victory over their Mustang rivals on such an important night for their seniors.

Senior Captain Shannon Williams spoke on behalf of the team’s successful win and the Senior Night festivities. “I’m so proud of how we dominated against one of our biggest rivals. I couldn’t ask for anymore from anyone on the field to help make our senior night so special and unforgettable!”

The next Bel Air Girls’ Varsity Soccer game is at 6:45 PM on Tuesday, Oct. 21,  against the Fallston Cougars at Fallston High School.
