On Monday, Sept. 16,the Bel Air Boys’ Varsity Soccer Team took on Mt. Carmel in a surprisingly close match up between an out of county team.

Coming into the game ranked 14th in the state, the Bobcats were seeking high goals for the season and were sure showing their potential with an impressive 4-0 start. To start off the game, Bel Air’s Alex Munley scored a quick one on one with the Cougar goalie, giving the Bobcats the first lead of the game. After countless minutes of solid defense from Bel Air, Mt. Carmel was able to score an equalizer off a free kick before half.

Captain Matt Rannie spoke before the start of the second half. “We’re trying to eliminate all factors other than the game; I know if we stay focused we can come away with the win”.

As the second half was underway, Matt Rannie took control and assisted the go-ahead goal to Junior Ryan Wills to give Bel Air some insurance. Not too long after, Senior Logan Szekalski hit a nicely placed ball in the corner to beat the keeper as Bel Air went ahead 3-1. Afterwards, the Bobcats defense played well, letting the final seconds of the clock tick down in a 3-2 victory to advance to 4-0 on the season in a clutch win.
