Can’t Beat A Bobcat: Girls’ Volleyball Remains Undefeated

Bel Air Girls’ Varsity Volleyball team stayed undefeated in their competitive division, beating the Patterson Mill Huskies, C. Milton Wright Mustangs, and the Fallston Cougars. With all big wins this past week, the girls’ are now 3-0 taking on North Harford at home on Monday, Sept. 15.

Beginning the season with a victory on Friday, Sept. 5, the Bel Air Bobcats took on the Huskies. Winning the match after 5 competitive sets with the scores of 25-15, 25-12, 25-19, 25-15, and 15-12, the victory was well earned. Key outside hitters were Kaitlyn Cassaday and Taylor White leading with 7 and 8 kills respectively, and Lena Sierocinski adding two kills and four blocks to help win the match.

Opposite Hitter Kirsten Johnson said, “It was so good to be back competing against rival teams, healthy competition makes everything better.”

After a weekends rest, the Bel Air Bobcats took on the C. Milton Wright Mustangs for their first home game of the season. Winning the match 3-1, the scores were 25-5, 25-16, 14-25, and 25-13. Again leading the team in offense was outside hitter Taylor White with ten kills. Anna Wojciechowski had 18 assists, and Mariah Thomas helped by contributing 3 aces, 2 kills, and one block. Lena Sierocinski contributed with 4 major blocks.

Staying undefeated in the final match of the week the volleyball girls’ swept the Fallston Cougars, 3-0. The scores were 25-20, 25-10, and 25-22. Being led as an offensive superstar 8 kills and 17 digs was Taylor White. Kaitlyn Cassaday had 7 kills, 6 aces and 13 digs. Brianna Karayinopulous contributed with 24 digs, respectively.

“We had a great game, and stayed focused. On and off the court, everyone was a supportive team and that really makes a difference and helps us to win,” said Head Coach Dave Marzola.

With a great way to start the season, the next game is Monday, Sept. 15 at home, against North Harford. The match begins at 5 p.m.
