On Wednesday, Sept. 17, fifteen Bel Air High School students traveled to Harford Technical High School to participate in the Pathways to Leadership seminar. The students were accompanied by Ms. Neal and Mr. Naus, and were asked to “prepare themselves to be challenged in all facets of their leadership skills.” Along with students from the other schools of the county the group heard the seminar led by Mike Wood.

Wood challenged the group to take command of their leadership skills, and become staples in their high school communities. With learning how to communicate verbally and nonverbally with adults and other leaders the students learned what it means to be a good leader, as well as mature students capable of being prominent figures in their school. The students were then split up and formed groups with peers from the different schools and were tasked to work cohesively as a team, despite maybe never meeting each other before.

“It was interesting to be able to work with other students from different schools as well as meeting new kids from Bel Air who have the same passion for leading that I do,” said Senior Sydney Schoff.

The event was coordinated by the Balfour Company and has many events all across Maryland and the United States.

“I had a great time!” said Junior Ali Nesbitt. “I enjoyed meeting new kids and I really took away a lot from Mr. Wood and all he had to say.

The students that attended were; Seniors, Matt Robertson, Andrew Visconti, Rachel Lozzi, Leah Lozzi, Sydney Schoff Ethan Brito, Damali Egyn-Davis, Juniors Natalie Neff, Ali Nesbitt, Bekah Riley, Renee Sipos, Mimi Salters, Anna Wehland and Sophomore Sam Queen.
