Starting on Sept. 15 through Sept. 19, the BAHS PTSA will be holding their annual Homecoming rose sale for students to send to their fellow classmates and teachers.

Students may send a rose to any student or staff member by completing the form on Edline or the one given out at all four lunches during the week of Sept. 15. All roses are $1.00 each, including the MD state sales tax.

Last year in 2013, over 10,000 roses were sold. This year the PTSA is hoping to exceed that remarkable number and make this the best year yet.

Kelly Ascenzi, a member of the BAHS PTSA said, “Last year we sold 11,000 roses for $1.00 each and the year before I believe we sold 8,000. The money raised is used for Scholarships for Bel Air students.”

In order for this sale to happen, many volunteers from the PTSA and other parents and students must help by attaching notes, filling water tubes, and dethorning the roses.

Kelly Ascenzi said, “The day the roses are delivered we start early in the morning assembling the roses. They have to be taken out of the boxes, dethorned, put in water tubes, then they get the notes attached to them and are put in boxes that are labeled with each classroom that the child is in receiving the rose. It is a lot of work and a lot of organization, but the parents have a great time being with each other.”

Roses will be delivered on Thursday, Oct. 2, during the last period of the day. No late forms will be accepted past Sept. 19.
