The Bellarion Goes Online

The Bellarion will be getting a new online look for the upcoming school year.  In addition to classic print version of The Bellarion, under the direction Ms. Barnes, the Bel Air High School community will now have the opportunity to keep up with their news and happenings in an online format.  The website, www.thebellarion.com , has been launched will be maintained by the Journalism I students under the direction of Mr. Tony Blackburn.  Mr. Blackburn will be a new English teacher at Bel Air High School this fall, and brings with him experience in teaching both journalism and yearbook classes at Joppatowne and C. Milton Wright High Schools.

“I am very excited about the opportunity to come to Bel Air and put together something new and exciting for the High School community to enjoy and utilize,” Mr. Blackburn commented.  In addition to the school website students will also have the opportunity to have their work published on The Bel Air Patch website, as well as Varsity Sports Network.

Mr . Blackburn added, “In this modern world we live in most people go to the internet to get their news.  Since Bel Air High School is a State of the Art school, it would only make sense that we share our news in the most modern of ways.  Not only will we report the news using the classic written word, but this website affords us the opportunity to report the news using photos and video.  In addition, the features of this site allow our readers to much more interactive with us.  It is how news is reported and shared in 2011.  I am pleased that our principal, Mr. Komondor,  and HCPS have also recognized this fact, and have been so supportive of this effort.”

Mr. Komondor explained, “I think this will be great not only for our students and staff, but also for the parents and alumni of Bel Air High School.  Bel Air is a community school, and this will allow the entire community to see the great things that go on here on a daily basis.  Also, our journalism students will get chance to share this news in a modern and exciting format.  I am really looking forward to watching this website grow.”
