Rated: R

Score: 10/10 stars

On Friday, Feb. 12, 2016, the newest Marvel comic movie, Deadpool, was released. The film starred Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson, the “hero,” Deadpool. I put hero in quotations because the movie is filled with inappropriate wise cracks made by the title character including innuendos, blatant sexual remarks, and intense violence…yet still maintaining its integrity.

Deadpool is the perfect example of an antihero, and the movie sticks to that fact. It follows the story of Wade Wilson, a mercenary with a mouth and a crazy, yet funny side, who falls in love with Vanessa. Everything seems perfect until Wade is diagnosed with terminal cancer. He takes the chance to save his life and gain super powers, but things go horribly wrong and he ends up with a disfigurement and grudge. So he squeezes hit butt in spandex, gets his face fixed, and continues to pursue Vanessa.

The origin is extremely close to the comics. Ryan Reynolds was a fantastic casting choice, and it was a thoroughly entertaining film. I personally love the character and the comics, but I am often critical of comic movies produced by Fox. I can sincerely tell you that Deadpool was a 10 out of 10, and the best “superhero” movie I’ve seen, and I’ve seen them all. You don’t have the love the character or even know who it is to understand and enjoy the film. It was very entertaining throughout, with humor that had the whole theatre laughing, fourth wall breaks, and awesome action.

The movie is rated R, so if you’re under 17, please make sure you’re accompanied by an adult! If you’re old enough, then stop reading this review, get up and go buy a ticket for Deadpool!
