Sam Smith’s Rise to Fame

Beloved 24-year-old English singer, Samuel Fredrick Smith, has been nominated for over 60 awards in two years and has won 24 of them.

Being featured in Disclosure’s song, “Latch” in 2012 rocketed the artist’s rise to fame. In 2013, he was featured in Naughty Boy’s “La, La, La”.

That same year he took some big leaps of his own. Sam released his first single from his debut album Lay Me Down on Feb.15, 2013. Later that same year he released his first EP, Nirvana.

On June 17, 2014, Sam released his studio debut album, In the Lonely Hour, to the United States through Capitol Records America. That same month he appeared on the cover of the 92nd issue of The Fader magazine.

Throughout his path to success he has had the help of his songwriter/producer and companion, Jimmy Napes. Jimmy has worked with Clean Bandit, Disclosure, Naughty Boy and Mary J. Blidge in writing music and has assisted in or written the majority of Sam’s music.

Sam Smith’s music falls into the categories of Soul, Pop, Blue-Eyed Soul and R&B.
