One of the most anticipated comic book movies of this year, Suicide Squad, had received a PG-13 rating, which may come as a shock to most people. Although many superhero movies are made PG-13 to appeal to a larger audience and generate more revenue, Suicide Squad features mostly psychopathic villains, rather than heroes. Characters like Jared Leto’s Joker are prone to being more violent; many fans were hoping to see him really let loose on the big screen.

After the success of Deadpool earlier this year, many fans expected DC to make a move in the same direction, by going ahead and giving Suicide Squad and R rating. The film will feature DC universe villains hired by the government as an expendable team to go on dangerous missions. Despite the rating, I’m sure Suicide Squad will live up to its hype and give us a fresh new take on the comic book genre.
