Harford County Reading Council Winners

This past week, the winners of the Harford County Reading Council were announced after students submitted poems and short stories to the contest. Out of 23 categories, Bel Air swept the board with 14 winners and honorable mentions.

For 12th  grade poetry, Bel Air won across the board with Shelby Gahler in first, Mary Talbard in second, Alex Gasior in third and Nico Dureza with the honorable mention. Bel Air also won first, second, and third place in poetry for 11th grade, with Praise Flowers in the lead, Brogan Gerhart in second and Alissa Roberts in third. For 10th grade poetry, Trinity Kappell won second, and Abby Lozada took the honorable mention.

As for short stories, Bel Air took first and second place for 12th grade with Mary Talbard in first and August Napolitano in second. For 11th grade, Sloan Schwalenberg won second and Miranda Bengal came in third. For 10th grade, Megan Burton came in third.

Congratulations to all the winners, especially those from Bel Air High School. All first place category winners will continue onto a statewide level. We hope to see even more submissions and winners next year!
