Grammys – The 58th annual Grammy Awards were held on Feb. 15, the first (and reportedly last) time that the ceremony was held on a Monday rather than a Sunday. Despite the unusual schedule, viewers will still able to enjoy performances by Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, Adele, Justin Bieber, the cast of the Broadway musical Hamilton, and more. Lady Gaga also made a fantastic tribute to the late David Bowie, dressed in his famous attire and even copying his dance moves. Some of the big winners included Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars, who won Record of the Year for “Uptown Funk,” Taylor Swift won Album of the Year for her 1989, and Meghan Trainor was selected as Best New Artist.

Kanye West – Making headlines for yet another week, the rapper’s new album, The Life of Pablo, is causing some controversy. The issues with Taylor Swift aside, West made the conscious decision to exclusively release his album to TIDAL, with the promise of never making it available elsewhere. A seemingly strange move for a man already publicly speaking about his crippling debt, West now has to fight millions of fans who illegally downloaded the record.

iPhone – Speaking of controversy, Apple issued a statement this week, vowing not to violate their user’s privacy by complying to FBI requests to open a “back door” in iOS. Specifically, for an iPhone recovered at the site of the San Bernardino tragedy. The company argued in their open letter that the software could easily get into the wrong hands, leading to the invasion of the user’s private data. Apple also confirmed that while information is collected by the iOS software, nobody in the company has any access to it.
