Viral

What a great few weeks it has been for viral! So get ready, here we go!

-Oscars: The annual award show was filled with surprises and heartfelt speeches. Winners included Eddie Redmayne for Best Actor and Julianne Moore for Best Actress and Birdman for Best Movie. The night was filled with laughter, mostly induced by Neil Patrick Harris (who unfortunately did not live up to Ellen’s hosting gig last year), and also filled with calls for social change like racial equality and gender equality.
-Lady Gaga and AHS5: It’s official… Lady Gaga has announced not only the name of the 5th season of the popular show American Horror Story, but also she will be part of the cast next season. Prepare yourself for American Horror Story: Hotel featuring the “Mother Monster” herself.
-Madonna’s Fall: It was the gasp heard around the world— at the Brit Awards this year Madonna performed with a matador theme and when she went to untie her cape that was supposed to fly off, she went off the stage right along with it.
-Llamas in Phoenix: Two llamas escaped from a petting zoo in Phoenix, Arizona and the chase continued onto a freeway and into a housing development. It, of course, became a meme on Twitter very quickly.
-THE DRESS: But on the same day as the llamas came an amazing viral trend that blew up! A user on Tumblr asked what color the now-famous dress and now celebrities everywhere have chimed in with their opinion.
-Spock Dies: Leonard Nimoy, who played Mr. Spock in the original Star Trek, passed away this past week. Fans of Star Trek or Trekkies are sad that their idol has passed away but many celebrated his life thanking him for the amazing show and fandom that he helped be apart of.
-#DearMe: YouTube is now becoming self aware, creating their own viral trend that many YouTubers are taking a part in. The hashtag, #DearMe, includes videos of people talking to their past selves and telling themselves encouraging things that the future gets better.
-National Pancakes Day: And finally, this week we celebrated pancakes with iHOP giving away pancakes all day. People everywhere traveled to their local iHOP and enjoyed their delicious pancakes for any of the most important meals of the day.
