-Golden Globes: This past Sunday, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler hosted the 72nd Golden Globe awards. The night was filled with multiple first-time wins (all of the winners in the TV category had never won before) and many winners that look like good contenders for the Academy Awards. ‘Boyhood’, the movie shot over the length of 12 years was the big movie winner of the night, winning for Best Drama, Richard Linklater for Best Director and Patricia Arquette for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. Kevin Spacey finally won a Golden Globe for his performance in ‘House of Cards’ after being nominated multiple times over the past few years. Newcomer Gina Rodriquez from the new show ‘Jane the Virgin’ won Best Actress in a TV Show and made a heartfelt and inspiring speech for Latino girls to continue following their dreams. And after the laughter from Fey and Poehler’s exceptional hosting talents, we’re left with the question— who will host next year’s Golden Globes, since the comedy-duo’s contract is up?
-Academy Award Nominations: You know it’s awards season when you get nervous about whether or not Bradley Cooper will get recognition for his role in American Sniper (which comes out this weekend)— and luckily he did. The Academy Awards’ nominations are looking extremely similar to that of the Golden Globes’, with ‘Boyhood’, ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’, and ‘Birdman’ getting numerable nominations across multiple categories. There were still some surprises though, seeing as The Lego Movie was completely snubbed of a nomination for Best Animated Movie even after doing so well in the Box Office (and being an awesome movie). The 87th annual awards will be held February 22nd and Neil Patrick Harris will host.

-#PictureIWouldNeverPost: In other news that doesn’t pertain to golden trophies or statuette men, a recent trend on Instagram is the #PictureIWouldNeverPost tag. Friends will tag their friends to challenge them and post pictures they deem too embarrassing or weird to post. Many include funny faces or pictures taken at bad angles. Although some people, as usual, have found a loophole or twisted it in a way. Pictures include food or cars with the poster saying they would never post a picture of their food or car because they just don’t post pictures like that (way to get out of it, creative people).
